Explore Chicago with a friendly, knowledgeable local as your guide!  This FREE service of Choose Chicago lets you take a free hour-long guided walk of Downtown. Here is a list of frequently asked questions about what an InstaGreeter walk entails.

 

Do I need to wear a mask on an InstaGreeter visit?

If you are fully vaccinated you do not need to wear a mask but we ask you have one available in case you are going into a building that requires masks.  If you are unvaccinated please wear a mask at all times.  The Greeter may ask all participates vaccinated or not to wear a mask.  

How much do InstaGreeter walks cost?

InstaGreeter walks are completely free.  InstaGreeters are volunteers and adhere to a strict no-tipping policy.  They are happy to provide this service to visitors at absolutely no cost.

How does InstaGreeter differ from a regular Chicago Greeter visit?

InstaGreeter walks are shorter (approximately an hour as opposed to 2-4 hours) than a full-fledged Greeter visit, and do not require registration.   Walks are offered Friday, Saturday and Sunday with two walks a day leaving at 11:30am and 1:30pm. Greeters are ready and willing to give you an informal, guided one hour walk around the Loop.  Loop InstaGreeter is  located in the Cultural Center's Randolph st. Lobby, 77 E. Randolph. 

How do I go on an InstaGreeter walk?

To take a Loop InstaGreeter visit, simply walk into the Chicago Cultural Center, Randolph St.  (77 E. Randolph St.) Lobby on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Two walks per day leaving at 11:30am and 1:30pm. Tell the InstaGreeter on duty that you would like to sign up for an InstaGreeter walk – it’s that simple!  .
